Dear parents & our dear curious kids!!
At the outset, here is wishing you all a very happy & learning-filled new year in 2017!!
We, at PlayAblo, have had a very curious year in 2016 ourselves, like crossing the 10,000 download mark, or making it to the top 150 Bestselling Educational Apps in Google Play Store, or making it to the list of the top rated Apps (4.6+).This has really been possible due to the immense support from parents and students alike.
We @ PlayAblo strongly believe that technology enabled learning can be a great leveller for the most deserving children, and can open new avenues of benchmarking your kids'performance. For example, a child in Dharwad could compare his / her performance with a child in Delhi in the same class and board!! Our custom analytical reports help pin point which aspect of mathematics, for example, does your child requires additional focus on, enabling him or her to excel in every skill level across varying complexity of problems.
True to this spirit, we look forward to bringing your child much more engaging experiences through various new features with our APP, making learning loveable to them. Some features, like "real-time challenge a friend” across the country would surely enthuse your kid to stay sharp in various skills taught in school while encouraging them to enjoy healthy competition!
We once again thank you for your patronage, and leave you with expectations of lot more features and fun-filled learning for our little PlayAblo’ites.

Team PlayAblo hits the road!
In an effort to connect with parents and children, Team PlayAblo visited L&T South City and Ajmera Infinity in Bangalore in November. The children got the chance to play and become PlayAblo Champions, while the parents got the opportunity to talk to the experts who created PlayAblo.
Organized sports were not a big deal when we were growing up. In fact, it was practically unheard of. Most of us just used to play in the playground, many of which did not even have any equipment. We were content to run around, making up our own imaginary games.
But today, when parents seek admission in schools, they actually care about how big the playground is, and the choices of organized sports that are being offered in schools today. Schools are even beginning to advertise that they are not just about academics, but also offer a more rounded education in the form of sports education, life skills education, music education etc.
Today, parents are beginning to see value in sports education. Many parents are even ready to let academics take a backseat and focus completely on a sport of the kid’s choice. Even though our country largely does not have the infrastructure for games like tennis to become mass sports, most apartment complexes in new urban areas come with tennis courts. Tennis academies are springing up every few kilometres, and schools are offering coaching at the school campus.
Children are taking up sports as an after-school activity, trying to combine the rigour of academic schedules and sports schedules. Parents are as proud when their child gets to participate in a sporting tournament and wins trophies as they used to be with educational accomplishments. This is largely due to a mind shift in how parents perceive sports.
Previously, parents were concerned only about academic performance. Today, encouraged by the success and popularity of sports athletes in many areas like badminton, tennis and cricket, and even watching with pride their success in international events like the Olympics, parents are now inspired to reach for the stars through their children. They are ready to chauffeur their children early in the morning, on weekends, and after school to take them to coaching centres. Today, sports is gaining momentum, and parents are beginning to see this as an excellent opportunity for children to shine beyond academics.
This is a welcome trend. Besides the obvious accolades, sports as an activity teaches you many admirable qualities like perseverance, team work and resilience. It boosts self-esteem, and teaches you how to deal with stress. In fact, there is some research which shows that children who do well in sports, interestingly, do well in academics as well!
Sport is a unique area of human endeavour where the mental capabilities of a person are tested as much as the physical capabilities. While the physical capabilities can be trained using a personal trainer who focuses on diet and training regimen, the mental capabilities are largely developed over a period of time after continued exposure to situations of pressure. This is important, since how a person deals with pressure is a reasonably large component in determining one’s success in today’s world.
With this new mind set of the Indian parent, we can look forward to many more stars that we can be proud of in the global arena, where we are not just known well for our intellectual prowess, but our athletic prowess as well!
BOOK REVIEW
THE HARRY POTTER SERIES
Harry Potter is a fantasy novel series written by J.K. Rowling. J.K. Rowling is a British author who was on welfare when her novel got published, and she went on to become one of the richest women in the world.
The Harry Potter novel series is about the world of wizards and witches that exists in parallel with the modern world. Harry Potter is a young wizard who is introduced to us in the book when he is 11 years old. He receives a letter saying that he has been admitted into the Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Until that time, Harry had been forced to live with his horrible Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon, and his annoying cousin Dudley who were his only known living relatives at that the time.

Lord Voldemort killed Harry’s parents but when he tried to kill Harry, the killing curse rebounded, killing Voldemort himself. Harry’s adventures at Hogwarts takes us through a wild ride. He meets two amazing friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Their adventures every year at the school is what the series is about.
The amount of detail and fascinating elements in Harry Potter is amazing. It takes us into a world that is so magical it has everyone wishing that they could be a part of it. The interesting spells, the names of places, and interesting characters like “Mad-eye Moody”, and fascinating games like Quidditch, keep the reader completely engrossed in the story.
At the end of every book, readers feel sad that it is ending and cannot wait to begin the next book in the series. Some of the ideas are simply brilliantly imagined, like wizarding chess and the mirror of Erised, which is actually Desire spelled backwards. There is a lot of play on words in choosing names.
The Harry Potter series is for anyone who enjoys fantasy, magic and adventure. In fact, every time one re-reads the book, one can understand small things which they may have missed the first time. This makes it a series which readers of any age can read again and again, and completely immerse themselves in the world of wizards.
2016 PLAYABLO CHAMPS
FATHER-SON DUO, RAMIT AND RUDRAKSH, SHARE THEIR PLAYABLO EXPERIENCE
1. What do you think is the impact of technology on education today?
Like every other part of our life, it's important that we embrace technology in the day-to-day learning of our kids, and PlayAblo is a concrete example of the same. Apart from whatever they learn at their schools, an app like PlayAblo brings out the best of their analytical, mathematical and language skills, while giving it an interesting and never-boring pattern. It's a secured, innovative and enlightening way of learning.
2. As one of top five scorers for Grade 2 in PlayAblo, what motivates Rudraksh to keep playing further? Also, as a parent, what do you like about PlayAblo?
Rudraksh doesn't take this as a learning schedule but enjoys every bit of it while climbing the various levels he clears, and gives him a feeling of achievement without any stress. Even the sense of competition is not at all stressful, as he is competing with himself, week by week. Of course, it feels good to see his name in Top Climbers :-)
3. How much did PlayAblo help in diverting Rudraksh's attention from unwarranted games and TV shows?
He prefers PlayAblo to playing those irrelevant video games, which make our children negatively aggressive these days. PlayAblo is the first thing he jumps onto after coming back from the school, after his meals.
4. Are there any features that you would like PlayAblo to have?
We are looking forward to more subjects for expanded and complete learning.
5. If you had to say something about PlayAblo to another parent, what would it be?
We have tried many prevailing apps in the market, both free and chargeable, but this has the biggest positive impact on Rudraksh without putting any extra burden on him. It’s a fun-filled, yet educative break for Rudraksh. I have already strongly recommended PlayAblo to my friends and relatives who are parents.
